Myth or Fact, Stress Makes Quick Hair Loss and Gray ?

NggonHealth - Myth or Fact, Stress Makes Quick Hair Loss and Gray ?

Hair color turned white, aka gray is considered reasonable when it occurs in older people. When it actually happens to those whose age is still relatively young, rapidly graying hair is caused due to excess stress?

Some studies show that stress is not a direct cause of gray hair. Therefore, it can not be ruled out as well if the damage to the DNA in the cells that produce pigment in the hair also plays a role in the growth of gray hair faster.

This was revealed Amy McMichael, MD, professor of dermatology at Wake Forest Baptist Health, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. McMichael could assert stress within a certain period is likely to cause the acceleration of the emergence of gray hair in some people.

"But it is only speculation and I have not found any scientific studies that show this," said McMichael, as quoted from Web MD, Saturday (01/23/2016).

In addition to gray, stress is also believed to cause hair loss easier. In response to this, Paradi Mirmirani, MD, a dermatologist at the Permanente Medical Group, Vallejo, California said it all depends on the type of stress experienced.

Stress due home late or heavy workload according Mirmirani will not cause a person to experience hair loss. In the short term, the stress will not affect your body in such a way to manifested in the form of hair loss.

"That thing is bigger than that may occur. Stress can make you less sleep, changes in appetite, and increased stress hormones. During the practice as a dermatologist, the myth of the relationship between stress and hair a lot I've heard though that sounds very ridiculous," McMichael added.

He said that until now was no evidence to support the idea that just because you're having a stressful day for a few weeks and then after that will be a lot of hair loss.
